Hey Riley, after a lifetime of reading fine literature, these are my top suggestions: “Winter’s Tale” by Mark Helprin, “Ada” by Vladimir Nabokov, and “Little Big” by John Crowley. Also “The Magus” by John Fowles, “A Short History of a Small Place” by T.R. Pearson, and “Blood Meridian” (or anything) by Cormak McCarthy. PS - I just finished “Infinite Jest “ at your suggestion. Lenny, if you haven't already, you should listen to the entire Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordon. 15 books. If you enjoy SciFi/Fantasy (these are more fantasy) you will love the series. Can be hard to follow at times. There are a LOT of characters to keep track of. But very good epic series.

Yeah, he definitely is running on sweetness, sounds a lot like my house, one parents lays on the sugar, other hides it. That's interesting about the wind coming up on islands with the tall cliffs like that, how it just kinda changes your plans for you. Where I live are tall cliffs, and it makes it so the winds are calm near shore too alot. That island house, talk about unique places to stay.
